Collaborators mapping ideas on a glass wall

Teams often arrive with fifty candidate events and a quiet hope that volume equals insight. In Journey Signal Studio we reverse the question: which moments change a decision if they disappear from the board?

The three-door filter

First, can a human describe the moment without product jargon? If the only label is an internal feature flag, the event will confuse the next hire. Second, does the moment branch the journey — success, retry, exit, or assisted recovery? Linear “viewed page” spam rarely branches. Third, can you name an owner who will notice when the event breaks?

Interview residue

Qualitative research leaves residue: phrases customers repeat, workarounds agents invent, screenshots of confusing confirmations. Those residues are better seeds for event names than analytics tool defaults. Sketch the residue on paper before you open a tracking plan spreadsheet.

What to leave out

If an event only exists to decorate a vanity funnel, cut it. Your Data Visualization and Analytics Platform for Customer Journey Mapping gets sharper when the capture plane is thinner. Scarcity forces clearer charts.
